Primary Purpose:
Responsible for raising funds to advance SightLife’s mission by managing the major donor, planned giving, events and capital campaigns for our Mission Advancement team, and creating deeper relationships with high-giving-capacity constituents across all revenue streams, with a focus on individual donors. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Secure major, annual and planned gifts for SightLife.
  • Manage and serve as “moves manager” for a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.
  • Create individual cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to secure annual and major gifts to support SightLife’s Global Programs and other efforts.
  • Develop a “legacy” funder program, targeting high wealth individuals offering $1M+ along with a unique engagement opportunity with SightLife and its programs (reporting, trips, etc)
  • Identify and initiate contact with potential donor prospects, including corneal recipients, donor families and other prospective donors as appropriate. Solicit gifts and negotiate agreements with these potential donors and bring to closure.
  • In consultation with the Vice President of Development & Fundraising, establish revenue and activity goals in this category, including number of monthly face-to-face solicitations.
  • Develop and manage events strategy.
  • Develop and manage capital campaign strategy, including marketing, communication and social media strategies.
  • Maintain sufficient records, contact reports and background data to facilitate periodic reports on activities, costs, and results.
  • Identify and initiate contact with potential planned/deferred gift prospects. Solicit gifts and negotiate agreements with these potential donors and bring to closure.
  • Working with planned giving counsel, prepare and review documents for planned/deferred gift arrangements for prospective donors, containing the benefits and options available through the use of computerized scenarios and other descriptive presentations.
  • Keep up-to-date on gift planning by attending seminars and conferences, as well as keeping abreast of current tax laws as they pertain to charitable giving and solicitation and administration of programs.
  • Supports the Mission and Values of SightLife in all activities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required.
  • Master’s degree and/or CFRE preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of success professional individual and/or institutional major gift fundraising experience.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Strong management skills, including strategic planning, directing staff, and managing team to high performance standards.
  • Able to effectively apply moves management techniques to secure gifts.
  • Able to utilize prospect research tools and prospect management tools, such as Salesforce.com, or other fundraising software. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills.
  • Able to work and make judgments independently and take initiative.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with people from all walks of life and from every socioeconomic level.
  • Articulate and passionate communicator conversant about the programs and Mission of SightLife.
